We would like to thank you all for your participation with the 2012 Calendar Raffle.
It was a great success.
We have posted the January 2012 Winners just click on the "Calendar Winners" tab.
The prizes will be mailed at the end of each month.
Click on "WHA hockey night with the Wild" to get your tickets. Here is the scoop - We will be attending the game on March 22nd (a Thursday night) at 7 PM. We have 50+ tickets set aside right now and we can get more if we need. There are seats all over the rink, but the biggest group is in the upper deck on the sides of the rink. The rest are sort of scattered around the rink. If you have special requests - you want to get a group of tickets for your team, get tickets together with a couple of families, etc - send me a message and I will get you in contact with Will Shultz with the Wild. 2 Players will get the opportunity to watch warm-ups from the bench. The way it will work is this; for every ticket you (or your child) sells, the player will get their name put in a raffle. If you sell 4 tickets, your name goes in four time (if you have multiple children you will have to give "credit" to one kid or another, or split up the entries). I will need a copy of the receipt that it was purchased through our block of tickets, who to give credit to, how to get in touch with you, and then you will be entered into the drawing. We will draw the 2 names 1 week prior to the game. (On Thursday March 15th, 7 PM at the Boathouse). I will call the winners that night to confirm. Please join us, this should be a fun night for all!
The awards banquet will be held at the VFW on March 29th beginning at 6 PM. We are looking for a keynote speaker so that you have somebody more interesting (and entertaining) than myself to listen to for the evening. We will have some sort of snacks available (free of charge), and drinks will be available (for a charge) from the bar.
We will begin with the youngest kids, and finish up with the bantams.
As we learn more details we will share them on the website

The board term is 3 years, believe me, those three years go fast! There are a number of positions that will be open for the coming year as 4 of our terms are up (Troy Hodgkins, Larce Jorgenson, Jeremy Brown and myself) as well as we had a new member from last year, Tyson Anderson, that needed to resign. That leaves 5 openings on a board of 11 members. I currently have a few names of candidates, but we do not have enough to fill the open positions.
If you have questions about what being on the board entails, contact a current or past board member. If you have issues with the way things are currently done, if you have ideas as to how things can be better, or just want to be more involved, we'd love to have you run for the board! Just shoot me a message, or stop any board member at the rink to let them know you would be interested!
We were recently contacted about a possible fundraiser with the Wild. Initially it sounded like we would have the opportunity to have some of our players participate in a "shootout" during the intermission of a Wild game. That would have been really cool, but we would have had to sell 300+ tickets to the game in about 10 days. When that fell through, they offered us another chance for something a bit different.
Now, with our new night, we get the opportunity to place two of our association players on the players bench during warm-ups of the game! That should be a pretty cool place to watch warm-ups, and get a chance to meet some of the players!
It hasn't been decided how we will choose the two players, but I will keep you informed as we come up with an idea. If you think of something, please e-mail or talk to any of the board members. The two ideas floating around now are; 1. the two players that sell the most tickets to the game and 2. having a raffle - each player would get their name in the raffle (regardless of selling tickets) and you would get an extra entry for each ticket you sell.
Again, we're welcome to other ideas so let us know! There will be a link on the website in the next couple of days where you can purchase tickets.
Someone will be around to sharpen skates weekly on Wednesday Evenings from 6pm - 7pm. If you have any questions, please contact Ben Srp.
Just a little update for everybody; we had our coaching coordinator, Tyson Anderson, step down from the board. Due to family obligations and selling their house in Waseca, Tyson felt it was best for his family if he stepped down to focus on other things. In the meantime Jeremy Brown will be filling in as the coaches coordinator, if you need to contact Jeremy his information is available under the "Board" tab.
Hello Everyone,
I have done my best to come up with a document to explain how to access the feeds from the Calendar on the Waseca Hockey website. In order to get the information you must either subscribe to the RSS Feed of the Tag you wish to receive information on or add iCal to your email program that will basically just display a second custom calendar with your selected tags. If you have any questions or can't get it to work, please feel free to shoot me an email or give me a call. I have tried both on my personal computer and they do work.
SIncerely,
Anthony Martens, Website Coordinator
The leak in the floor has (seemingly) been fixed! The crew was able to find the problem yesterday afternoon. Kyle has frozen sand in the floor - the reason sand is used is to prevent putting down new concrete only to dig it up again if another problem arises. If (when) we have the problem solved, I believe concrete would be poured again. Kyle has been dumping buckets of water into the problem areas and we will have ice tonight. That said, there will still be cones up protecting the area, and the players, until the ice is finished setting up. As I understand it, we should be "back to normal" tomorrow.
Sorry for all the confusion and lack of timeliness of getting info out to everybody, but I have been doing my best (as well as the rest of the board and Kyle) of getting you all the info we have as soon as we get it. Again, if you have questions you are welcome to contact me. I will also be speaking to each age level at one of their first practices - unfortunately I will be out of town from Friday through Sunday AM, so I may miss a few teams until the beginning of next week. You are encouraged to ask questions at those meetings. We want to be as up front and honest with the membership as possible.
I look forward to seeing and meeting everybody in the very near future!

We will be starting bingo at the Boxcar bar in Waseca starting September 11th and are looking for ticket sellers and bingo callers. The bingo lasts approximately 2 hours (depends on number of players, speed of the caller, etc.) and you would receive credit towards your volunteer hours. If you are interested, please contact Al Kunz or Mike Corchran (e-mail us through the "Board" tab on the website home page).
We may have the ability to train people to be 1st responders so that you can get your hours by watching your son or daughter's games! What the job entails is being at the arena for tournaments, watching the games and being the person who checks on injured players. If there is need for medical attention (beyond your training) we would contact the ambulance or have the player's parents take them to the hospital.
This is also a great way for the association to cut our budget a bit, so keeping your portion of the bill to a minimum (as much as possible!). So if you are interested, please send me an e-mail so I can determine if we have enough people to make a class happen. You can find my e-mail under the "Board" tab at the top of the home page.
Thanks!
Mike Corchran
